In Memory of Luckee

Luckee was exactly just that - "lucky" the day he was found in the middle of a Fayette County road biting the sores that covered his body where his hair had all fallen out. Luckee's fate then laid with two sisters who continuously cried and pled to their father until he finally gave in and allowed this (what appeared to be) elderly, mangy mutt into his household. Besides, he had always wished for a son and ended up with two daughters. After his weekly mange dips, heartworm treatments and treatment of his horrible kennel cough, Luckee flourished into a handsome one year old Bichon. Luckee quickly became these sisters' biggest pal. He listened to their deepest secrets, helped them through their roughest teenage moments, stayed up with them through many years of late night college homework, pretended to like their yucky boyfriends and eventually watched them move away beginning lives of their own. Between all of these chores, he somehow managed to water mom's flower beds (never missing a plant) and made time to enjoy his favorite past time of squirrel chasing. Luckee's human parents often warned Luckee of the day they would become empty nesters but assured him that with his help, they had done a wonderful job of raising their girls and that they would be fine. Luckee did not mind the retired life and his parents made certain that he lived the life of luxury. Luckee showed his appreciation each and every day with each tail wag and kiss he shared with them. Luckee, we were the "lucky" ones to have you as our most beloved pet. You have left paw prints all over our hearts that will never be forgotten. I hope you've been reunited with everyone at the bridge. It hurts so bad to know that you are gone, but we know we will see you again. Until then, we will miss you "Little Man."

LUCKEE

Where he came from I cannot truly say
Because the first time we saw him he seemed to have lost his way

He was first seen in the middle of a lonely Fayette County street
When my daughter and he for the first time came to meet

He had eyes that said "Help me if you can"
So Dianne gave him a very loving hand

After much needed medical attention he finally came home to stay
And my daughter, Sherry, nurse him back to life in her own special way

For over eleven years he made our home a better place for sure
And with his comical ways he insisted his love for us we would endure

The little Bichon we named Luckee was special from then to today
But we were the lucky ones to know him - what more can I say

Now "Little Man" has gone to be with the Lord up above
And all who knew him he left with hearts full of love.

We love you and miss you so much, Luckee -Dad
